Mentoring
Our mentoring program helps young people improve their self-esteem, social skills, and relationships with their teachers, friends and parents.
Mentoring works.
Mentoring helps teenagers who are having a hard time in school. It helps youth who are hanging around with the wrong crowd. It also helps young people boost self-confidence.
Our Partners in Change program has compassionate mentors to befriend and guide youth ages 10-18 in overcoming challenges in their schools, their neighborhoods, and their homes.
As part of the program, youth and their mentors meet in a group setting every two weeks to discuss schoolwork, home life and anything else on their minds. They also get together quarterly with other youth and mentors in Partners in Change to attend movies and musicals, go out to dinner, and participate in other social functions.
The goal is for youth to improve self-esteem, social skills, and relationships with parents.
The mentoring experience isn’t just beneficial to youth.
Being an adult mentor is a way for volunteers to stay connected to their communities, develop new friends, gain new experiences, and make a big difference in the lives of young people.
The program has been generously supported by Esperanza since 2010.
