Saturday for Arts

“Saturday 4 Arts” is a family oriented program designed to bring immigrant families together for a period of 10 weeks. During this time, children between the ages of 10 and 16 can choose to learn the piano, guitar or dance. These two hour classes provide the child with basic knowledge that will spark their interest in the arts.  Then they are brought together for a one-hour class on Life Skills using one of the top curriculums in the nation. This interactive and fun class helps youth learn skills to resist peer pressure, develop their self-esteem by valuing others, understand the myths and realities about drugs and alcohol.

In the meantime, their parents take ESOL conversational class. This program is further enhanced by offering parents with educational sessions on how to improve communication between them and their children as well as other useful tips to strengthen the family unit.  At the end of the 10 weeks the children put together a small performance for the benefit of the entire family.
